Stetson University Part-Time Resilience Analyst TT2267 in DeLand, Florida

This temporary, part-time, grant-funded position will involve performance of geospatial modeling and assistance in writing technical reports in support of green infrastructure projects in coastal East Central Florida. Strong skills in using geographic information systems (GIS) software, analyzing hydrologic data, interpreting soils, and generating scientific figures for general audiences are required for this position. The position will entail some coordination with government agencies, non-profit partners, and student interns, as well as developing peer-reviewed publications and technical reports. The position will require approximately 25 hours per week of work, some of which can be performed remotely. This is a grant-funded position that is expected to end no later than January 31, 2025. The continuation of the position is dependent upon additional grant funding.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform technical geospatial assessments of potential flood risk and evaluating green infrastructure alternatives in coastal East Central Florida
Assist the IWER Executive Director, Laboratory Manager, and other affiliated faculty/staff on development of public presentations and project reports
Participate in periodic coordination meetings with collaborating communities, researchers, and institutions
Coordinate undergraduate researchers working within the IWER laboratory on affiliated projects
Required Skills
High competence in geographic information systems analyses and cartography, especially using ESRI ArcGIS and associated products
Ability to perform hydrologic assessments that incorporate information about soils, land cover, rainfall, tidal, and local infrastructure conditions
Experience working with undergraduate students and conducting public outreach in an applied research setting
Required Experience
Master’s degree in environmental science, physical geography, or related field
Experience working with undergraduate students in a research setting
Salary Grade: 7
