THE ORTHOPEDIC CENTER Clinical Support in Easton, Maryland

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare patients (taking vitals, documenting reason for visit, document patient history).
  • Assist provider with patient examination and treatments.
  • Thoroughly educate and provide explanation of some procedures to patients and family members as directed.
  • Perform basic medical procedures under provider supervision (i.e., dressing changes, remove and/or apply casts and splints, remove stitches/staples)
  • Triage patients/callers who present symptom-based problems or general health questions while documenting and notifying provider.
  • Order provider requested lab tests from other facilities and schedule with patient."
  • Obtain prior authorization for tests and medications in coordination with provider instructions.
  • Complete patient medical forms.
  • Clean, maintain, and set up examination rooms for patients as dictated by office and regulatory guidelines.
  • Appropriately order prescriptions per provider's instruction by electronic means or by phone.
  • Fit patients with appropriate Durable Medical Equipment (DME) products as instructed by provider.
  • Schedule appointments for outside specialty care as instructed by provider.
  • Send specimens using proper techniques and following policy and procedure for labeling and storage in accordance with lab requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills in clinical practice, attend required in-service training and continuing education.
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures in wearing personal protective equipment when performing duties (i.e., gloves, masks, goggles).
  • Maintain a valid driver's license, insurance coverage on personal vehicle (with minimum limits of $300,000 and no exclusion for business use) and a clean driving record (as defined by The Orthopedic Center's insurance carrier).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES: Skills and Abilities Proven ability to maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor. Demonstrates skills and abilities in clinical, patient care and administrative areas. Ability to assess patient's symptoms and relay effectively and accurately to the physician. Proven ability to effectively handle sensitive and confidential information. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal effectively with a variety of people and situations. Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills - with the English language. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually with little supervision and instruction. Sense of urgency in addressing patients and working with staff within all areas of the Practice. Good working knowledge of basic office machines (i.e. fax machines, copiers), computer software, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Internet, etc. Good organization and time management skills. Education and Experience: High School Graduate required. 1 to 3 years experience in physician office or ambulatory care setting preferred.
