The Greenville, North Carolina, USA site is a large, multipurpose pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, and packaging campus. The operation provides both development and commercial services for sterile injectables forms.

Position summary

Performs mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks to setup, adjust, inspect, maintain, and repair production line and supporting infrastructure equipment. Responsible for ensuring that all services are conducted safely in a detailed and efficient manner. Improves production equipment availability to increase throughput and regulatory compliance within both cleanroom classified and non-classified spaces. Works closely with Production, Engineering, Reliability and Scheduling to maintain cGMP compliance, injury-free workplace, and timely product delivery. Typical hours for this role are 6:00pm - 6:00am on a 2-2-3 schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to peers and junior staff by mentoring, training, encouraging “One Team” mentality, and creating a successful and enriching work environment to increase Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and meet the business unit’s objectives.

  • Perform routine and sophisticated repairs, problem solving, overhauls, redesign, and enhancements on production and auxiliary support equipment from written instructions, sketches, plans, diagrams, verbal descriptions, or self-determined job requirements based on observed conditions.

  • Document conditions, actions, and results of work performed per company policies and procedures in logbooks, shift reports, action reports and work orders. Documentation includes failure codes and descriptions, wrench time, performance testing and turnover conditions, etc.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining job plans, solution guides, spare part availability and Standard Operating Procedures for equipment operation and maintenance.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and expectations using Procedures and Job Plans related to safety, quality, housekeeping, material procurement, equipment operations and downtime tracking.

  • Work in a safe and responsible manner to build an injury-free and incident-free workplace. Applies Lock Out/Tag Out, Work Permits, Line Break Permits, Working at Height Permits, Confined Space Permits, ARC Flash Prevention programs.

  • Own results by taking actions to correct deficiencies and reports variances and exceptions on equipment operations.

  • Contribute to continued efficiency improvements using metrics, TPM, 5S, and the PPI process.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree with four (4) years of related experience or High School Diploma with six (6) years of related experience.

  • Experience in Sterile Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology or Medical Device Industry preferred.

  • Proven experience with Sterile Production Systems, HVAC/HEPA Systems, Clean Utility Systems, Black Utility Systems, Electrical Distribution Systems (AC and DC, 24v to 480v), Motors, VF Drives and Servo Controlled System preferred.

  • Ability to analyze problematic equipment and electromechanical component failures without schematics. Proficiency in the use of highly technical diagnostic and test equipment, reading blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technician papers.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, task prioritization and interpersonal proficiency.
