Butler America Technical Writer in Lenexa, Kansas

Technical Writer Location: Lenexa, KS Job ID: #69101 Pay Range: $36-42 ph (W2) Duration: 6 mos Job Summary Supports and performs planning, design, development, illustration, publication, and distribution of basic technical publications including technical procedures and manuals (including re-visioning services). Supports balloting process including rework cycles and coordinating with writing team members through final publication of documents onto the web. Responsibilities • Frequent interface with various engineering functions, technical disciplines and end-users to document standard operating procedures. • Develop technical materials for use in training, operation and system maintenance of Customer equipment using established Customer standards and guidelines. • Self-directed and also provides guidance to team members on development of multiple publication products. • Accountability for the cost, quality and timely delivery of all work assignments. Qualifications: • Experience writing technical manuals in a military or civilian environment. • Understand and comprehend system operation from typical engineering documentation (schematics, mechanical drawings, software specifications, hardware interface specifications, and equipment specifications). • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter. • Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience (ex: design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content. • Knowledge of computer operating systems, hardware and software. • Knowledge using MS Office programs such as: Word, PowerPoint & Excel. • Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
