SUMMARY

The Engineer designs functional, reliable and cost effective heavy duty vehicle components. The Engineer performs engineering analysis and design or re-design, and development of components into existing and new vehicles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes

  • Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting

  • Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role

  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally

  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues

  • Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards

  • Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures

  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability

  • Perform and Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material

  • Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements

  • Provide non-complex technical assistance for production support

  • Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication

  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations

  • Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs

  • Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering and communicate status via verbal or written communication

  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion

  • Regular attendance is required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field along with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience

  • Ability to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems

  • Experience with a high level CAD system
