Berks Counseling Center Accounting Specialist in Reading, Pennsylvania

Summary of job:

You will ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial records for BCC. You will work with the CFO and other stakeholders within the Agency to record, reconcile, and report on financial information to senior leadership and Board of Directors. Possible partial remote work eligibility after 90 days.

You will...

  • Record accounts payable into the general ledger as directed by Finance Management.
  • Record cash receipts activity into the general ledger as directed by Finance Management.
  • Coordinate recording of cash receipts activity into the Agency's Electronic Health Records (E.H.R.) system with the Billing Lead
  • Reconcile cash and investment accounts monthly.
  • Reconcile other balance sheet accounts on at least a quarterly basis.
  • Assist in preparation of external financial reporting.

To qualify for the position, you will need...

  • An associate degree in accounting or related field
  • Computer literacy and the ability to learn new related applications.
  • To be able to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, between the hours of 7am - 6pm. 

Preferred candidates will ...

  • Have at least one (1) year of experience in accounting
  • Have experience with Blackbaud accounting software 
  • Have experience working in behavioral health and/or social service 
  • Be able to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to see well enough to read reports and use a computer.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with clients, vendors, and coworkers. 
  • Must have mobility to move about the agency.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to write, type, and use technology.

  • Receipt of results of a satisfactory drug and alcohol screening test. 
  • Receipt of the originals of the following background checks: PA State Police Criminal History, PA State Child Abuse, and DPW FBI Criminal History. These clearances must be valid within the 60 months prior to employment. A conviction is not a bar to employment; however, a review will be conducted to make a determination of employment should a conviction be present.
  • Receipt of original documentation and verification of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates, or licensure.
  • Confirmation that you are not on the OIG Federal Healthcare Program Exclusion from Participation list. Should you appear on this list, Berks Counseling Center is prohibited from employing you.
