What Data Management & Governance brings to Cardinal Health:

The Data & Analytics Function oversees the analytics life-cycle in order to identify, analyze and present relevant insights that drive business decisions and anticipate opportunities to achieve a competitive advantage. This function manages analytic data platforms, the access, design and implementation of reporting/business intelligence solutions, and the application of advanced quantitative modeling.

Data Management and Governance provides direction of data assets and is responsible for data strategy, quality, standards and service levels. Data management acquires, validates, standardizes, enriches, protects and publishes structured, third party and unstructured data for use by the business. Governance defines and implements policies, standards and metrics that ensure the effective and efficient use of trusted data and statistical models to support regulatory and business goals.

Accountabilities

The Advisor, Data Governance will be part of the Enterprise Data Organization and function as a Data Governance Specialist responsible for advancing and maturing Data Governance in the Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDnA) platform. Primary focus will be on Strategic Reporting and remediation activities to comply with approved policies, standards, and procedures. This role will act as a change agent and work directly with the EDnA platform team, EDnA Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Leads and SMEs to:

  • Drive implementation and adoption of the EDnA Data Management Policy and its associated standards and procedures

  • Support implementation of the Enterprise Data Governance Playbook for the EDnA platform

  • Support the EDnA tollgate process and serve as SME for the governance fields required to ingest data into EDnA

  • Engage, educate and support EDnA Data Owners

  • Enrich technical metadata supporting the EDnA platform

  • Capture and maintain business metadata related to sensitive data sets housed within the EDnA platform

  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture to enforce best practices and support large initiatives

  • Oversee the capture of data lineage coming into, within, and exiting the EDnA platform

  • Partner with domain specific data stewards to ensure that they are aware of data going into EDnA and to ensure that any additional governance steps that need to be taken are included in the pipeline

  • Partner with EDnA Platform team and OCM on relevant marketing initiatives for Collibra, EDnA, or Data Governance

  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality and coordinate with the necessary teams

  • Present at Working Groups and other Leadership meetings for alignment and approval

  • Support quality & regulatory teams to drive data management compliance

  • Cross-functionally manage execution of governance for high-risk data sets

  • Represent data governance in technical and business-supporting discussions
